The Western summits are gathered for the annual security conference.

Then Alexei Navalny died.

A coincidence?

– Putin is a very, very evil man, says Nancy Pelosi, former President of the United States, from Munich.

The shock announcement came just as the conference was about to begin.

Vladimir Putin’s archenemy, the main opposition politician in Russia, Alexei Navalny died after suddenly falling ill during a walk in the penal colony where he was serving his sentence.

No coincidence

For those attending the security conference, the timing of his death was no coincidence.

Many of them see the timely connection to the Munich conference as a deliberate message from Putin to his enemies in the West that his power and influence over everything that happens in Russia is absolute, writes Newsweek.

The Munich Security Conference gathers prime ministers, presidents and other high political representatives every year.

The US is represented by Foreign Minister Antony Blinken, Vice President Kamala Harris and a number of members of Congress from both parties.

One of the latter is Nancy Pelosi, member of the Democrats and former speaker of the House of Representatives.

She is sure of her cause. Navalny died right now for a reason:

“Sinister”

– He, the evil Putin, chose that it was time to do it during the security conference in Munich. I think it will have the causative effect of really showing how evil he is,” Pelosi said to Newsweek.

– He is a very, very evil man.

Financier and Putin critic Bill Browder, who worked with Navalny on several occasions, is on the same track.

He told Sky News that the death could be seen as a “signal to world leaders that Putin can cross all the red lines and get away with it”.

In addition to Putin’s war in Ukraine and Navalny’s death, the election campaign in the United States has been the theme of many discussions at the security conference – and then mainly the likely Republican candidate Donald Trump and his statements about NATO.

“A grotesque man”

He said during a recent speech that he would urge Putin to attack NATO countries that did not pay their share to the defense alliance.

Pelosi says that many people have asked her what happens if there are four new years in the United States with Donald Trump in the White House.

– I tell you the same thing as I tell them: It won’t happen, she says to Newsweek.

– I think we spend too much time on him.

However, that doesn’t stop Pelosi from continuing to talk about her archenemy Donald Trump.

– It is not funny to even talk about the election, other than about the fear people have that a grotesque man can become president of the United States. A person who is proud to take away women’s right to choose, a person who praises Putin, praises the President of China, is friends with Kim Jong-Un. I mean, what’s going on? says Nancy Pelosi.

Argued before

The former speaker believes that the world would feel “further bites of the poisonous snake” with four new years of Trump in power.

The tones between them have never been very friendly.

During the initial covid crisis in 2020, when Trump was president and Pelosi was speaker, relations were really frozen as they fought over the best way to combat the virus.

In connection with that, Nancy Pelosi urged him to be careful not to get infected because he was at risk because of his “morbid obesity.”

During a press conference, Trump then called Pelosi “a sick woman” and added that “she has a lot of problems, a lot of mental problems.”

Following Pelosi’s remarks about Trump in Munich, campaign spokesman Steven Cheung commented to Newsweek:

“Does Nancy Pelosi even know where she is half the time? Under President Trump, there was peace and prosperity. But with corrupt Joe Biden and the Democrats, there has been more misery, destruction and chaos. They have become the biggest threat to democracy in American history,” he states.
