Sweden’s table tennis men won the premiere in the team WC.
At the same time, the ladies went on a real overdrive.
Sweden’s second Anton Källberg began tentatively against the lower-ranked Slovak Lubomir Pistej. Then the sets started to go the Swedes’ way in the team WC in Busan, South Korea.
Möregårdh won
Källberg won with 3–1, Möregårdh with 3–0 and Matthias Falck was able to end the team meeting by also winning the third and thus final match.

For Truls Möregårdhwho turned 22 the day before, it looked at times playfully easy against Yang Wangthe Slovaks’ highest-ranked player.
Sweden’s men are already qualified for this summer’s Olympics. For Sweden’s ladies, advancement to the quarter-finals is required to reach an Olympic place in Paris.
The ladies’ loss
But the team suffered three straight losses (0–3) in the opening round against a superior Romania. It was clear after that Filippa Bergand lost 11–13 in the third set against the Romanian Adina Diaconu. 0–3 were the set numbers in that match.

Also Stina Källberg and Linda Bergström lost their matches, both against higher ranked opposition. The Swedish teams play next on Saturday, the ladies against Singapore and the men against Puerto Rico.
