Tension continues after Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny died today in the prison on the Yamal Peninsula in Russia.
“PROOF OF PUTIN’S CRUELTY”
US President Joe Biden said that the news of Navalny’s death angered him but did not surprise him and said, “Russian officials will tell their own stories. “Undoubtedly, Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death,” he said. Describing the incident as “further evidence of Putin’s ruthlessness,” Biden stated that Navalny could have spent his life safely in exile, but returned to Russia with faith in his country and people, even though he knew he could be imprisoned or killed instead.
In her speech at the Munich Security Conference, US Vice President Kamala Harris said, “Of course, this is terrible news. If confirmed, it would be another sign of Putin’s ruthlessness. “Whatever story they tell, let’s be clear: Russia is responsible,” he said.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “Navalny’s death in a Russian prison and the obsession and fear of a single man underscore the weakness and decay at the heart of the system Putin built. “Russia is responsible for this,” he said.
HIS WIFE IS ANGRY AT PUTIN
Yulia Navalny, wife of the Russian opposition leader, spoke at the 60th Munich Security Conference held in Germany. Stating that she was skeptical because the news of her husband’s death was announced by Russian government sources, Yulia Navalny said: “But if this is true, Putin, his entire circle, Putin’s friends and the government will bear the consequences of what they did to our country, my family and my wife. “And this day will come very soon,” he said.
Emphasizing that they cannot trust Putin and the Putin government, Yulia Navalny said in tears, “They always lie.” Calling on the international community to unite against what she described as Russia’s “horrible regime,” Yulia Navalny said, “Both this regime and Putin are the last “He must bear personal responsibility for all the terrible things they have done to my country, to our country, to Russia over the years,” he said.
HE WAS SENTENCED TO 19 YEARS IN PRISON
