Google Messages celebrated a major milestone last year by announcing that the service had one billion active RCS users. To commemorate the occasion, the Messages team also previewed some of the new features coming to Google’s messaging app. Voice modes, AI-powered Photomoji, reaction effects, animated emojis, to name a few, have already been used in Messages in some parts of the world. However, Screen Effects, ” also announced in the November 2023 preview, have been enabled. It looks like Google is now slowly but surely making this available to Messages users.
Google Messages brings new features
Screen effects are triggered when there are certain keywords in your message, including snowing, I love you, and more. At launch, Google said more than 15 such effects were available, encouraging users to find them all during their conversations.
The team at 9to5Google discovered two more phrases that trigger the display effect: Sounds nice and Happy Valentine’s Day. The first releases a series of thumbs-up icons from either side of the screen; Valentine’s Day text reveals a series of hearts and a dove across the screen; This is also the screen effect of “I love you”. The site states that the phrase “it’s snowing” has not yet produced an effect.
