Israel’s military (IDF) confirms on Telegram that it attacked what it calls terrorist targets in Shaboura in southern Gaza and that the attacks are over.
Later in the night, the IDF said two men held hostage by Hamas were freed in Rafah on Monday night during a raid carried out by Israeli military, police and security services.
The two men, 60-year-old Fernando Simon Marman and Louis Har, 70, were both kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Yizhak when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, according to the IDF.
They are both said to be in good health and have been taken to a hospital in Israel for examination.
Over 130 people who were taken hostage are estimated by Israeli authorities to remain in Gaza. 29 of them are believed to be dead.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said a ground offensive is being prepared against Rafah but the US and EU have warned of the humanitarian consequences.
