Still undefeated this season (31 matches without defeat in all competitions), Xabi Alonso’s players won thanks to goals from their Croatian full-backs Josip Stanisic – on loan this season from… Bayern – and Spaniard Alejandro Grimaldo, in the 19th and 49th minutes. The Dutchman Jeremie Frimpong aggravated the score at the very end of the match (90+5), while Manuel Neuer had abandoned his cage, entering the opposing area from a corner.
