Baseball player Joni Rytkönen filed a criminal complaint against a girl born in 2007, the prosecutor considered that there was no evidence in the case.
The prosecutor has made a decision to limit the baseball player in the preliminary investigation Joni Rytkönen of the criminal report made. The Prosecutor’s Office of Eastern Finland announced the matter on Wednesday.
According to the protocol, the accused was a girl born in 2007. He was suspected in two cases.
The police investigated the matter under the headings of unauthorized dissemination of a sexual image as a young person and dissemination of information that violates private life as a young person.
The young woman was suspected of presenting or distributing a sexually suggestive image or video recording of Rytkö in such a way that the act would violate her right to self-determination.
The name of the interested party is covered in the document, but one of the recipients is Olli Raustewho has acted as baseball player Joni Rytkönen’s agent.
The events described in the document also fit Rytkönen’s case and the Sports Ethical Disciplinary Board to the information of the decision.
Some of the messages were opened with a friend
The suspected commission dates are scheduled for the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.
Both the police and the prosecutor considered that there is insufficient evidence in the case to continue the investigation.
The justifications read, among other things, that based on the suspect’s and witnesses’ accounts, the display of messages has been about situations where they have been present when the messages were opened. The witness accounts do not support the suspicion that the messages were made available to a large number of people.
According to the police, the girl born in 2007, on the suspicion of unauthorized distribution of a sexual image, opened the messages sent by Rytkönen together with another young person, and the witness recorded some of the messages by filming them on another phone.
According to the police, the procedure cannot be considered as presenting a picture or video as referred to in the law, because the person concerned did not know its content when opening the message.
The suspect has told the police that he wanted to make the interested party stop messaging him.
The police estimate that it was also the young man’s attempt to resolve a situation in which he had received unwanted messages.
According to the prosecutor, Rytkönen has the right to use his own right to prosecute.
Banned from competing in January
At the end of January, the Sports Ethical Disciplinary Board administered by the Olympic Committee orderedi Joni Rytkönen to a temporary suspension due to sexual harassment.
Rytkönen has planned to appeal the decision.
The suspension ends on June 30, i.e. in about five months.
The disciplinary board considered that Rytkönen had harassed two minor baseball enthusiasts on social media. According to the Disciplinary Board, Joni Rytkönen sent them sexually suggestive messages and also sent sexual pictures and videos to another. The board considered that Rytkönen’s actions violated the girls’ right to sexual self-determination. The Disciplinary Board considered that another interested party contributed to the events by provoking Rytkös during one day.
The prosecutor says that the Eastern Finland Police Department is still investigating the suspected sexual abuse of a child.
