“Hercules is quite dependent on René van der Kooij,” says Eric Speelziek, who was head coach of Hercules from 2015 to 2018 and worked closely with Van der Kooij, who was then technical manager. “A good new trainer can be found, but a technical manager who puts as much time into it as René, that is a lot more difficult.” Speelziek agrees with other speakers that recruiting Jochem Twisker is a good move. “That ensures that there is football knowledge in-house, but he puts in fewer hours than René.”
