Toni Kohonen considers his dismissal illegal. Three days have been reserved for processing at the district court of Pirkanmaa.
A baseball legend Toni Kohonen and Manse PP, the contract dispute trial started on Monday in Pirkanmaa district court.
Kohonen demands a total of approximately 120,000 euros in compensation from Manse PP for the unjustified termination of the employment contract.
The amount consists of salary income accumulated after April 2023, salary for the waiting period and court costs.
Kohonen was hired as the club’s game director in the fall of 2022. He had a long playing career in the background, but no work experience as a game director or coach.
The cooperation ended with layoffs in the spring of 2023.
The ambiguities started immediately
Elevate the representative vice-judge Olli Rausteen according to Kohonen and the club had agreed on a contract in October 2022.
Contract negotiations had progressed quickly. The parties had agreed on a monthly salary of 4,500 euros and that the club would arrange an apartment for Kohose and his family if necessary.
The agreement was announced on October 21, 2022.
Disagreements started already in the same month. The contract was announced in an online broadcast, where the presenter said that Kohonen had signed a 1+2 contract with the club. According to Kohonen, a two-year contract without option years had been agreed upon, and otherwise the family would not move to Tampere.
There was also disagreement about the methods of operation. In December 2022, Kohonen had been invited to a management discussion. There was a captain Henri Puputtiaccording to which it was only a development discussion, not, for example, giving a warning or verbal reprimands to the game director.
The mediation did not produce results
Based on the challenge application, the disagreements continued. The management of Manse PP terminated Kohonen’s contract in February a year ago.
Kohonen considers that the club did not have grounds for terminating the employment contract according to the Employment Contracts Act.
The parties tried to reach a mediation solution as late as August 2023. However, it did not yield results.
