The last women’s competition of the World Biathlon Cup saw a special situation right at the end. City Persson rose to fourth past his national teammates Elvira Öbergin in the joint start competition.
This meant that Öberg went for a € 10,000 prize pool. Had the Swedish star been fourth, he would have won the co-start cup.
– I wasn’t quite awake in it. Sure, Persson did a great job for himself, but this had probably not been discussed in advance with the coaching staff, Sport’s expert Toni Roponen stated.
