The cast of the series also includes Magnum legend Tom Selleck, who spoke again about the impending end of the series in a recent interview. He also revealed that he initially didn’t believe in a plot element that would make Blue Bloods so popular.
Tom Selleck thought Blue Bloods audiences didn’t want to see long dinner scenes
As the star tells TV Insider, he didn’t initially believe that the Reagans’ extended dinner moments should actually become part of the cop series:
When I read the eight-page dinner scene in the script for the pilot episode of… [ausführenden Produzenten] When I saw Leonard Goldberg, I said, ‘You’re going to cut that out, aren’t you?’ And he answered: “No, that will be a centerpiece of the series.” He was right.

In Blue Bloods, the family meets head Frank (Selleck) every Sunday, with the characters talk about their feelings and discuss important lessons. These scenes quickly became a tradition in the series and fans immediately grew to love them.
Tom Selleck himself has already said that for him the recipe for success in Blue Bloods is the character relationships. Without the extensive, regular dinner scenes, these would never have become so complex.

The big Blue Bloods series finale will be in the USA broadcast in two parts, which will be released in February and fall 2024. A German start is not yet known.
