Global Game Jam (GGJ), the world’s largest game development event, hosted by StartGate, was held globally this year between 22-28 January 2024. GGJ makes visible the talents that can contribute to the game ecosystem and helps its participants become members of a global community; This year, it invited nearly 35 thousand game developers to creativity at the same time in 796 centers in 102 countries.
Turkey, which is a part of GGJ’24 with 14 event centers, helped brave entrepreneurs become a part of this global organization. More than 800 participants from Istanbul, Ankara, Balıkesir, Izmir and Konya developed more than 200 games using all their creativity.

There were more than 150 applications for ‘StartGate Global Game Jam’24, which was held at StartGate Campus in Maslak on January 26-28. 16 teams in StartGate-based GGJ, attended by 80 guests from different cities of Turkey and different age categories; They pushed the limits of their creativity on the main theme set by GGJ, “Make Me Laugh”. StartGate, together with JCI (Association of Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs), created another field of competition with the theme of “Quality Education”, one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The games that stood out and were appreciated in the “Qualified Education” themed jam were also appreciated by GGJ.
