She is looking for revenge after her dismal WC last year.
But there is something that bothers Elvira Öberg.
– It is not at the same level as last year, she tells SVT.
Elvira Öberg had a fantastic winter last season and before the WC she was Sweden’s great medal hope. Then the unthinkable happened. Elvira Öberg fell ill, but did come to the start during a competition, but it was clear that she had not had time to recover.
Elvira Öberg’s great concern
The winter has been up and down for Elvira Öberg, who, however, stayed healthy and injury-free. She won a chase start at the beginning of December, but it is the first time during the winter that she has been placed at the top of the podium. Individually, there has only been one more podium place during the season, and it is not with such good self-confidence that Öberg steps into this year’s WC, which begins this week.
Above all, Öberg has had problems with shooting, while at the same time she has set great times in the track. And before the big highlight of the year, the WC, she is honest that she is worried about what she showed on the shooting range.
– The self-confidence may not be at the same level as it was last year at this time, says Öberg to SVT.
“One of the biggest pitfalls”
Elvira Öberg believes that the problem lies in her becoming passive on the mound, and having difficulty getting the shot off at the right time.
– You become a little passive, I think, when you want too much and it is one of the biggest pitfalls I have, that I become passive, she says.
After all, it is with a good feeling that Elvira Öberg, who together with Hanna Öberg is Sweden’s great medal hope in the championship, enters the WC.
– I have all possible conditions to be able to do well and I take that with me. I know what I am capable of and am very much looking forward to it, she says.
