the Assembly rejects unsurprisingly the lefts motion of censure –

It had become a habit for Elisabeth Borne, it will quickly become a habit for Gabriel Attal as well. The National Assembly largely rejected this Monday, February 5, the first motion of censure filed against the new Prime Minister.

Tabled by the four left-wing groups, protesting in particular against the fact that Gabriel Attal did not request a vote of confidence from the Assembly, the motion received only 124 votes. In the absence of the support of LR and RN deputies, it therefore fails far from the 289 votes necessary to bring down the government.

Just after the appointment of Elisabeth Borne to Matignon in 2022, the former Prime Minister also had to face a first motion of censure. This was therefore also rejected, but it still received 193 votes out of the 289 necessary.
