A new cosmetic injection is gaining momentum on the networks: the Lemon Bottle promises to dissolve fat in a few sessions, where you find them unsightly. But the lack of perspective on the product worries doctors, and in particular our expert, Fatya Assadi, aesthetic doctor.

A small lemon yellow bottle, a nice name, a few milliliters of a serum injected with a needle (by a pseudo professional, or yourself) and the double chin or slightly thick arms become slimmer as if by magic . The Lemon Bottle, a new injectable cosmetic product that melts fat, continues to seduce Internet users. But what is this product sold online as a miracle and above all, is it safe?

A magic potion to melt all your fat?

With the success of Ozempic used as a weight-loss treatment, young people who are sensitive to their appearance no longer seem to be afraid of turning to injections of all kinds. The Lemon Bottle, originally from Korea, intervenes in this wave of almost instantaneous change.

Available online, it promises according to its description, “target fat cells, improve their breakdown and provide anti-inflammatory benefits” thanks to three key ingredients: riboflavin, lecithin and bromelain. In other words, where you inject the Lemon Bottle (preferably in the double chin, or in the arm fat), you should see the fat melt and disappear in a few sessions and without any effort.

It was enough for many Internet users (especially English and American if we rely on TikTok profiles) to flock to this product to experience it.

But no study on this newcomer

The procedure also seems simple: it requires only an anesthetic cream and a brief injection over several sessions, apparently carried out by a beautician (or at spas, in the American versions).

In France, according to Fatya Assadi, aesthetic doctor and member of our committee of experts, the product is not used, and unknown to health professionals. However, it is available online, at a price of 130 euros for approximately 5 vials, which may be surprising. “This is because it is not classified as a medicine, but as a cosmetic treatment, so the rules are much less drastic.” she explains to us. “There is also no visible CE marking” she clarifies, indicating the lack of control.

Concerning the ingredients and effectiveness, the professional is categorical, the product has no hindsight and no scientific evidence in its favor: “We must be clear, to date we have no publication on this product and its active ingredients which can attest to either the effectiveness of the injections or the dangerousness of the product. No previous study has shown that these ingredients are the cause of any fat loss. Using it seems mind-boggling.” she insists.

Injection is not a risk-free act

The other question that this trend may raise is that of the act itself: if they are not carried out by doctors, injections without a prescription seem to fall under the hands of “coaches” in aesthetics or or quite simply among those buyers. “The problem is that this can lead to many possible complications. The injections must be carried out according to the rules of the art, in absolute asepsis. If done incorrectly, they can cause abscessesedema, infections and in some cases necrosis. Itโ€™s presented here as a simple act, but in reality itโ€™s potentially dangerous.โ€

In the end, Lemon Bottle is now just a new product in this race to be lean. “This is where we realize that networks are dangerous and that many Internet users are naive. But wanting to lose weight at all costs should not lead to rash behavior. Buying an unknown product online is still worrying.” concludes our expert.
