The latest film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings together three well-known superheroines in front of the camera for the first time. Incredibly expensive MCU blockbuster: The Marvels couldn’t even make back its budget
As the business magazine Forbes reports, the production of The Marvels has a huge budget of $275 million devoured. It was filmed in Great Britain. Thanks to funding from the British government, the film ended up with a budget of $220 million. According to Forbes, a box office gross of at least $440 million would have been necessary for success.
However, as Box Office Mojo figures show, the film only grossed $195 million. This means that The Marvels even undercuts the box office gross of The Incredible Hulk, which grossed $265 million in 2008 and has done so to date Box office bottom in the MCU marked. Now the film begins its streaming life on Disney+ before the next MCU offshoot, Deadpool 3, hits theaters.
