The number of active users of social media has risen to over five billion, or around 62.3 percent of humanity, according to a new study.
The figure rose by 5.6 percent last year, according to the report from the analysis company Meltwater and the advertising agency We are Social.
The social media platform with the most users is Meta’s Facebook, which has 2.19 billion. Second is Meta’s Instagram with 1.65 billion, closely followed by Tiktok with 1.56 billion, according to the report.
The report also flags that it is difficult to determine the exact figure due to automated accounts and people using different identities.
