No wonder many James Bond fans want Idris Elba as the new 007. The star has sufficiently proven his action talents in films like The Suicide Squad and The Losers. For various reasons, the role of the British spy will probably not work out, but there is a more than adequate consolation: His thriller series Hijack is basically Die Hard in streaming format. And now it’s getting a second season.
Die Hard on a Plane: James Bond candidate Idris Elba has to outsmart terrorists
Hijack follows businessman Sam Nelson (Elba), whose seven-hour flight from Dubai to London is suddenly hijacked by terrorists. Before the attackers can misuse the machine for an attack, he goes on the attack.

A man takes on terrorists almost single-handedly in a confined space, wants to save hostages and struggles with the mistakes of the police bureaucracy. That sounds a lot like Bruce Willis’ star role in Die Hard, but captivates in the stream with many of his own ideas.
The mix is apparently well received by audiences because, according to Deadline, the streaming service Apple TV+ has ordered a second season of the thriller series. It is not yet known how Nelson’s story will continue in the new episodes.
When is Hijack Season 2 coming to Apple TV+?
The second season of Hijack does not yet have a specific start date. If production starts soon, we could expect a release in Summer 2025 introduce. In any case, it will come sooner than a 007 appearance by Elba. The star definitely doesn’t want to become the James Bond after Daniel Craig.
