Prof. Dr. İsmail Yılmaz stated that packaged products should be examined carefully before consumption. Yılmaz stated that access to food is becoming increasingly difficult in the world and said, “We must make the best use of the scarce resources we have. One of the most important duties of the food industry is to maximize the preservation of foodstuffs.” said.
Stating that technology in the food industry is developing day by day, Yılmaz stated that canning technology is one of the most used methods to ensure the durability of agricultural products. Yılmaz stated that heat treatment is extremely important in canning technology.
Stating that heat treatment should be applied to the product in an adequate and balanced manner in canning technology, Yılmaz said, “The product should be preserved in the best possible way after the processes. All rules, especially hygiene, should be strictly followed in production.” he said.
Emphasizing that one should pay close attention to their packaging, especially when purchasing products, Yılmaz advised to stay away from products with inflatable packages.
Yilmaz said, “If there is swelling on the product packaging, that type of products should definitely not be consumed. Because it means that the activity of microorganisms is still continuing. If these products are consumed, consequences up to death may occur.” he said.
