“Then it feels extra nice”

Ebba Andersson has hardly had time to digest the euphoria.
Now the Swede admits the truth about the Jerring Prize.
– It felt a little like I wasn’t just carrying myself, she says to SVT.

That was on Monday Ebba Andersson was totally shocked when she received the Jerring prize. After two WC golds and a total of four medals at the Skiing WC, she was voted by the Swedish people for the prestigious award at the Sports Gala.

Andersson’s shock

Many thought it was between Armand Duplantis and Daniel Ståhl but the Swedish ski star sniffed both. Even she herself didn’t believe it, and it was extra special that the 26-year-old wasn’t even there, but had to give her victory speech via video link.

Now she reveals the truth about her feelings after a few days have passed.
– That was unbelievable. When I sat there and it was me and Armand (Duplantis) who were left, I thought it was fun while it lasted, but now I just have to congratulate Armand on this victory, says Ebba in an interview with SVT.
– Then my name was read out and I didn’t understand at first, did they really say my name? When it had sunk in, it was just a matter of trying to start talking.

Ebba’s honest words

Ebba Andersson has been away with the Swedish national skiing team since Monday and now reveals that she was forced to borrow clothes from a teammate. To be able to speak in front of the Swedish people and a packed Friends arena during the Sports Gala.
– I would think about not having any logs on air and those of us who are on our way on national team assignments where it is full of logs. My first thought was to turn the pajama top inside out. But then I had to borrow one of my teammates’ hoodie, she tells the TV channel.

The Swedish WC queen and the recent Jerring Prize winner also opens up about the fact that this was not just a victory and revenge for herself. Without even the entire national skiing team, which did not receive any nominations in the usual award categories at the Sports Gala, it is believed that a record-breaking year is behind them.
– It felt a bit like I not only carried myself, but also carried the whole team and skiing, when we had such a good year as a team without nominations. Then it feels extra nice to be in place and here and be awarded this award when I’m actually with the team and get to celebrate it with them.
