Palestinian children will be transported to Italy to receive the treatment they need in an operation that will begin in the next few days, the country’s defense minister Guido Crosetto said according to the Reuters news agency.

Defense Minister Crosetto did not specify how or when the remaining 40 children will be evacuated to Italy.

Response to a humanitarian crisis

Israel began military operations in the Gaza Strip after the terrorist organization Hamas attacked Israel in October, killing at least 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages.

Defense Minister Crosetto characterized Italy’s decision to take the children into care as more of a moral than a political decision.

– One cannot be indifferent in the face of a serious humanitarian crisis, Crosetto said in his statement.

According to the Minister of Defense, Palestinian children arriving in Italy will be cared for in Bologna, Florence, Genoa and the capital, Rome.
