Seasonal quest line

Once you have completed the prologue of the main story, you can start the new season story with your seasonal character. Within the new seasonal quest series with its seven chapters, you can not only farm XP, but you also get your mechanical companion, the Seneschal. You can equip this with guidance and coordination stones to make it even stronger.

This is particularly worthwhile because it means you can deal more damage, receive healing, or other useful buffs. This in turn supports you when you cut through the monster mobs, because: more damage = more XP in less time.

You can find out more about the Seneschal companion, the stones and their powers here:

Seasonal Whisper Tasks

This season there are also tasks that you can complete for the Tree of Whispers. As a reward for the tasks you will receive loot, gold and seasonal items. In Season 3, in addition to the usual tasks, there are also those that are thematically based on the season.

You will find seasonal whispering tasks in individual areas on the map, which you can recognize by the small green leaf. There you can destroy constructs or collect cores from elemental obelisks and use them to summon the demonic messengers of Malphas, the new season boss.

The seasonal whisper tasks reward you with a lot of XP and a lot of loot and are a bit reminiscent of the blood harvests in Season 2 of Diablo 4. In comparison, it is a weaker form, but still worthwhile. The enemy density in the areas with the seasonal whisper tasks is generally quite high, which makes leveling not only fun, but also pretty quick.

In the picture you can see the “Galvanic Brazier” with which you summon the Herald of Malphas

The quest “Defeat a Herald of Malphas” gives you approximately 28,000 XP at world level 1. If you add the mobs that spawn, you get around 50,000 XP. And if you fill up the bar for the Tree of Whispers and exchange it for a chest, you will also receive another 84,000 XP.

For the calculation we played alone, i.e. without a group bonus. But with a 5% XP boost for monsters killed by the Smoldering Ashes in the Seasonal Blessing.

Nightmare Dungeons

Once you reach World Tier 3, you can farm Nightmare Dungeons to level up your character during the season. In Season 2, the density of enemies in nightmare dungeons was increased, so that players used them to level up quickly, especially in the end game.

Individual dungeons were referred to as “dopamine tunnels”. The design of the dungeons mentioned was successful: little backtracking, lots of enemies, constant action. Which dungeons turn out to be the most suitable in Season 3 will become clear in the coming weeks.

More tips for leveling:

  • For a greater challenge, 20% more XP and 20% more gold, you can set it to World Tier 2 at the start (or as soon as you feel ready). You can also test the level. If you die too often there or take too long to kill enemies, you simply switch back to level 1.
  • Activate potions to receive a 5% XP boost.
  • Team up with friends or players you see around to take advantage of the group XP boost.
  • In groups you could also take on more difficult enemies, mobs, world levels and dungeons to farm XP.
  • With the Smoldering Ashes from the Battle Pass you will receive +5% to the amount of XP from killed monsters in the Urn of Aggression.
  • With Season 3, the times for Hellfloods have been adjusted. These are now almost permanently available and only have a 5 minute break. There you can not only farm loot, but also XP.
  • Legion events are also worthwhile for XP farming. For successfully completing an event, you will receive around 19,000 XP with an XP boost of 5% at world level 1, and a total of around 138,000 XP with enemy mobs.
  • Take part in smaller events in the open world – most of them go quite quickly and reward you with XP, gold and loot. You can recognize them by a red circle on the mini-map when they are close to you.
  • World bosses are pretty tricky, especially at the beginning, and simply take too long, so you can ignore them for now when it comes to leveling.
