Many municipalities lack a plan for how the drinking water supply should work in severe emergency situations, reports Sweden’s Radio Ekot.
Out of 178 municipalities surveyed by the industry organization Swedish Water, 23 lack a so-called emergency water plan. That’s roughly the same number as a year ago.
It is mainly small municipalities that lack such a plan, according to Pär Dalhielm, CEO of Svenskt Vatten. “You lack personnel and competence to do this type of development work,” he says to the radio.
