The president of the LFI deputies announced that she would go, on behalf of her party, to the tribute organized on February 7 at Les Invalides.
Mathilde Panot undoubtedly knows that her presence at the tribute will be widely commented on, but for the elected official it is a question of providing clarification on the position of her party on the war waged between Hamas and Israel since October 7. Emmanuel Macron announced that a ceremony would be organized on February 7 at the monument for the victims of terrorism, located on the Esplanade des Invalides in Paris, to salute the memory of the 41 French people killed in the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7 .
“I will be present (…) and I asked that a tribute be paid to all the French victims of this war in the Middle East”, indicated Mathilde Panot at a press conference at midday, this Tuesday. And added: “I believe that we must pay tribute to the Franco-Israelis and the Franco-Palestinians who died, whether in war crimes committed by Hamas or in war crimes committed by Netanyahu.”
Emmanuel Macron recalled last week at a press conference that the attack committed by Hamas on October 7 was “the deadliest terrorist act [pour des Français] from Nice”. The Head of State also indicated that three hostages were still being held by Hamas. “We are fighting step by step with the Israeli authorities, with Qatar, which has a decisive role in this matter, with several other colleagues, to free them. We are not giving up,” he added.
