Because there was political uncertainty about the future of the building, the renovation was stopped. Because the building was in a much worse condition than expected, costs increased. Initially, the renovation was going to cost 1.7 million, but it eventually turned out that at least an additional 1.1 million euros was needed. In May last year, a majority of the municipal council lost confidence in councilor Wil Kosterman because of her role in the file, after which she decided to resign immediately.
