The head of Palworld spoke about the current state of the game and promised a feature that would completely turn the gameplay on its head.
Palworld is currently breaking one record after another on Steam. The number of players in the survival game keeps increasing and increasing. In addition, the “Pokémon with a creak” also gets strong reviews from players and is currently 93% positive.
The positive reviews repeatedly show how surprised players are by the wealth of content, even though the game is still in Early Access. Now the CEO of Palworld developer Pocketpair explained that the successful title is only 60% finished and that a big feature is still to come.
What feature is it about? As Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe revealed in an interview with Japanese magazine Automation Media, Palworld could get PvP.
Although the next step in development is to further perfect the game, the studio is looking into how they can add PvP. Nevertheless, they want to prioritize the functions that players want first:
The other important things are how we integrate PvP into the game and how much new content we release. We’re ready to add new features, so we’ll look at user feedback and prioritize the features everyone wants.

What else does Mizobe say about the introduction of PvP? Mizobe explains in the interview that he is not very optimistic about PvP because the hurdles for a successful PvP game are very high. According to Mizobe, a game with PvP has to be perfect because otherwise the players would disappear again.
The game also needs a good reason why players should play PvP in Palworld. He then cites the Pals’ fighting format as a possible reason. For example, you could have a Pal fight another Pal, explains Mizobe. We know such a principle from other monster collecting games such as Pokémon.
The other way to fight is to have a Pal on a team with a human fight against another team consisting of a human and a Pal. This is not possible in Pokémon, Temtem and Co., but is reminiscent of the PvP of ARK: Survival Evolved.
Mizobe then explains the context in which the PvP battles could take place. It is therefore possible for players to compete against each other in competitive locations such as arenas or to fight completely freely across the entire map.
Finally, Mizobe states that he hopes they can create a unique PvP experience that only Palworld offers and concludes: “Looking forward, one of my top priorities is to make PvP a success.”
