X owner Elon Musk has visited Auschwitz-Birkenau and a conference against anti-Semitism in Krakow, Poland, amid intense debate about anti-Semitism online.
Musk visited the World War II concentration camp before attending a conference against anti-Semitism organized by the European Jewish Community (EJA) in the city of Krakow. The meeting in Krakow was set aside for Musk to discuss online anti-Semitism ahead of Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27.
Jewish rights groups have accused Musk and the X platform, formerly Twitter, of allowing anti-Semitism since the multi-billionaire bought the company in 2022.
Musk participated in a small ceremony at Birkenau’s memorial, EJA writes to AP in an email.
– It is incredibly sad and tragic that people could do this to other people, says Elon Musk during an interview at the conference after the visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
– It hits directly in the heart when you see it in reality.
