We have known for a while, we will have to say goodbye to our good old Verdansk. Call of Duty: Warzone is welcoming a new map very soon, Warzone Pacific. Date and time of release, content of the update … We explain everything to you.
[Mis à jour le 06 décembre 2021 à 17h30] As Warzone Season 6 marks the final hours of fighting in the streets of Verdansk, players prepare for the arrival of a juggernaut: Warzone Pacific. The integration into the popular Battle Royale of Vanguard, the youngest of the Call of Duty license will take place very soon, which will mark a drastic change of environment for all operators. Indeed, Warzone Pacific comes with a new map, balancing changes and above all, an anti-cheat. We summarize all the information on the Caldera card, the update and the Ricochet anti-cheat in this article.
You will understand, Warzone is moving to a new map: Caldera. Caldera is an Island located in the Pacific, colorful, covered with a lush and living jungle. What a change of scenery for the players after more than a year and a half spent in the desolate lands of Verdansk. This map will not only be a change of environment for Warzone, but also a change of graphics engine. The release of this new arena will be an opportunity to upgrade to the improved IW8 engine of Call of Duty Vanguard, in order to facilitate the integration of weapons and mechanics of the next release of Activision in Warzone. Don’t panic, the IW8 is the same graphics engine as Modern Warfare, so this change shouldn’t impact game performance too much.
We can discover this map at the end of season 6, which should also mark the beginning of season 1 of the third year of Warzone. This new card can be discovered from December 8 for players who have played Vanguard and December 9 for others. For Warzone, integrating Vanguard will have several consequences. We change (partially) graphics engine, which implies new mechanics such as the arrival of cover fire or certain walls and destructible objects. Vanguard’s weapons also join the fight, and will normally be able to accommodate up to ten accessories, as in the multiplayer of Call of Duty Vanguard.
Through a clear message to the attention of cheaters, Activision made known its detailed objectives regarding the implementation of an anti-cheat in Call of Duty: Vanguard. The good news is that this software will also be included in Warzone’s transition to this new universe. from December 8. Concretely, Vanguard arrives in Warzone and brings with him his anti-cheat, “Ricochet”, which will be one of the pillars of a new era without cheaters for Warzone. This new system will be implemented a few weeks after the release of Call of Duty Vanguard and will consist of drivers that will control all applications related to Call of Duty Warzone. Activision specifies that Ricochet will be mandatory to play the game as soon as it is released and that it will only be active during games of Warzone. Of course, this anti-cheat only concerns PC players.
The other central element of Ricochet is also the collection of data, and the communication with the players. It will always be possible to report suspicious behavior in play, an essential action for Activision which considers that the human contribution can help its anti-cheat to evolve over time, in addition to machine-learning which will allow it to constantly adapt its answers to new cheat software. Activision also insists on the protection of accounts, which are too often victims of hacking, to the chagrin of players who sometimes lose accounts sometimes worth several hundred euros. Ricochet will precisely strengthen it, especially if players activate two-factor authentication on the account.
