Tip: If you are dissatisfied with your position, you can change the location of your base at any time by repositioning your Palbank. When you “move”, however, most of the buildings remain in place and you then have to rebuild them in the new location.
Space for your base
Make sure you have plenty of space when building your camp. Because some buildings, such as the livestock farm or the breeding farm, require an enormous amount of space. And your Pals need beds, which you also have to place somewhere, otherwise they will become dissatisfied.
Avoid areas that are too narrow and surrounded by water or rock walls, because there is little space here and the game often refuses to give you building permits. It’s best to look for an open area where you can expand and have plenty of space for your farms and productions.
Protection and security for your pals
If you have activated the “Raids” function, you will regularly receive unfriendly visits from evil pals or enemy poachers. They try to destroy your base and kill your pals. So look for a position that you can defend well. A steep wall in the back is practical, for example.
Some Pals are also aggressive and will attack you on sight. You’ll know this when an exclamation mark lights up above their heads. You shouldn’t necessarily settle near them either, because that could end badly for your base. Sometimes there are also turf wars between the Pals: If two level 30 mammorests fight for territory in your settlement, you have no chance.
Tip: We have experienced, for example, that the pathfinding of certain opponents is currently so poor that the opponents cannot cross certain obstacles such as steep walls or small elevations and then get stuck in trees and rocks. After a while the attacks disappear on their own, you don’t have to defeat all the enemies.
Important resources for starting your base
For your first base you will mainly need wood, stone and paldium. Other materials such as ore, coal or sulfur are added later. It is therefore best to place your base so that you have a stone or at least an ore deposit nearby. Otherwise you have to dismantle the things yourself and can’t leave the work to your pals.
Tip: You can later build a lumberjack and a quarry yourself and become independent of existing trees and stones on the map. Paldium and Iron deposits can only be found on the map and cannot be built.
You can produce other resources yourself later, such as food, wool or even grain, without having to pay attention to your surroundings.
See what Pals are in the area
Observe your surroundings and see which Pals are nearby. Above all, recommended starters in Palworld such as Lamball, Foxparks, Chikipi and Cattiva should be nearby. We would not recommend settling in a high-tier area.
