Norwegian minister resigns after plagiarism scandal

– The mistake is mine and I take full responsibility for it, she says at a press conference on Friday evening.

The revelation that Borch allegedly copied parts of his master’s thesis in jurisprudence was published on Friday by the Norwegian the business magazine E24.

Shortly afterwards, Sandra Borch, who belongs to the Center Party, called a press conference where she announced that she was resigning.

– When I wrote my master’s thesis about ten years ago, I made a big mistake. I took texts from other works without indicating the source, admits Bosch.

– As Minister for Research and Higher Education, it is important to me that we have a functioning regulatory framework for conducting examinations. I see that this error is not compatible with being responsible for this regulatory framework.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) says he understands Borch’s decision.

– I understand that Sandra Borch believes that this case makes it difficult for her to gain the confidence required as minister for higher education.
