With a Finnish passport, you can now visit 193 destinations visa-free.
The Finnish passport is one of the best travel documents in the world, according to Henley & Partners, a London-based consulting company from this year’s passive comparison.
The consulting company’s comparison includes a total of 227 countries and their administrative regions that are considered separate. The Finnish passport guarantees visa-free access to 193 of them.
Sweden’s and South Korea’s passports are tied with Finland. Access to 194 countries opens with passports from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and Singapore. The difference to the leading European countries is that Finns require a visa to enter China, while French, German, Italian and Spanish passports do not require a visa.
Most of the countries that require visas from Finns are in Africa. In addition, a visa is needed for Russia or India, for example.
At the beginning of last year, according to a comparison by Henley & Partners, the Finnish passport entitled visa-free travel to 189 travel destinations.
The Finnish passport has been a valued travel document in the world throughout the 21st century. In 2014, it was at the top of the list and has since remained among the four most effective passports.
The comparison highlights the inequality of international mobility. With the passports of Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, you can travel visa-free to only about 30 countries.
