– It’s been twelve years since I suffered from burnout and it has taken time to find ways not to fall there again, says Ida Ehrnborg.
Ida Ehernborg has suffered from exhaustion syndrome several times and has had to work hard for many years to find ways to help her not get sick again.
– In my case, it was the demands at school that started to trigger an unpleasant feeling of anxiety in me, a fear of not being enough. Already at an early age you have to fit into a template and if you don’t fit in, you stand outside with a feeling that you are not good enough, she says.
More young people are taking sick leave for exhaustion
More and more young people between the ages of 20 and 40 are taking sick leave for exhaustion syndrome, according to figures from Försäkringskassan that SVT has seen. In Kalmar and Kronoberg counties, an increase of around 30 percent is seen since 2020.
Uppvidinge municipality offers a course on stress-related diseases where Ida Ehrnborg is the course leader.
– I meet people who feel very stressed due to various situations in life and the interest in how to prevent, manage or find a new direction in life is great. There is a greater openness to talk about burnout today, she says.
