Elias Pettersson’s smash success in the NHL continues.
During the Vancouver Canucks’ ongoing away game tour, he has stepped it up even further.
And after another goal last night, he has succeeded in something that no one else has done in NHL history.
The Vancouver Canucks had a tough year last year and were never really close to making the playoffs. But there were hopes that this season would be something better, but no one had dared to dream that it would be this total success.
The monster success continues
The Canucks are perhaps the NHL’s best team and they are fighting at the absolute top of the table. And much is thanks to Elias Pettersson. The Swede, who scored a whopping 102 points last season, is currently one of the league’s hottest players, and if he continues at this rate, he will reach an unparalleled 111 points when the regular season is over.
The Canucks are currently on a road trip, i.e. a series of away games, and then Pettersson has stepped up even further. In the last three games, Pettersson had accounted for eight points and three match-deciding goals. And in the night’s meeting against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the 25-year-old repeated the feat for the fourth game in a row.
Broke a new NHL record
Elias Pettersson already had two assists to Brock Boeser in the game, and he also scored the Canucks’ third goal of the game himself. However, it was 3-3, but in extra time Pettersson stepped forward again. When he got the chance in a free position, he didn’t miss, and that means that Pettersson scored four match-deciding goals in a row on the road – a feat he is completely alone in the entire history of the NHL.
Pettersson has also scored a somewhat unimaginable twelve points in his last four games, and the new record was not something he had a firm grasp on.
– Is it true? It’s pretty cool, he says, smiling broadly in the subsequent television interview.
The new points success means that Elias Pettersson also overtakes Connor McDavid himself in the points league, where he is now seventh.
