Gabriel Landeskog practiced on Thursday on ice, for the first time since undergoing a cartilage transplant in his right knee.
“Having him on the ice now, even though we know there’s still a lot of work to be done, is a big step in the right direction,” Colorado coach Jared Bednar said.
Gabriel Landeskog has not played ice hockey since he captained the team to win the Stanley Cup with Colorado in June 2022. Arthroscopy surgery was performed in October of the same year, but the Swedish star’s knee did not heal well enough to play in the NHL last season.

Instead, a new operation awaited when the transplant was done in May, when the news was that Landeskog would also miss the entire season.
– This is the option that is the best for me to be able to come back and play hockey again, Landeskog said then.
The 31-year-old is currently not expected to be on the ice on a daily basis, but the plan is to alternate that with continued rehab training.
