[Mis à jour le 17 mars 2022 à 20h45] In 2015, the movie Everest by Baltasar Kormákur plunged the viewer back into a tragedy that occurred twenty years earlier. This feature film tells the true story of the terrible ascent of the highest mountain in the world on May 10 and 11, 1996. Eight mountaineers died during two expeditions, due to a major snowstorm. On May 10, 1996, the guides Scottt Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal in the film) and Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) neglect bad weather conditions climb with several tourists to the summit of Everest. Once at the top, a violent snowstorm descends on them. One of the amateur climbers on the expedition collapses, and guide Rob Hall decides to stay by his side. They both die.
The other participants of this expedition that inspired the film Everest begin the descent. Scott Fischer, the second guide, dies there after suffering from altitude sickness which caused cerebral edema. The tourists are then left to themselves and serpont saved by the mountaineer Anatoli Boukreev (Ingvar E. Sigurosson plays his role in the film). One of them is found dying: it is Beck Weathers (played by Josh Brolin), who will miraculously survive this terrible expedition. However, his right arm and the fingers of his left hand will be amputated. His nose, frozen, will also be reconstructed thanks to an ear tissue transplant.

Synopsis – Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is a challenge for many climbers. Mental strength and determination must be there. When two teams tackle the ascent of the most coveted summit, they had not expected a major storm to fall on them. At every second, every step, death can strike. Faced with these terrifying natural elements, the heroes of these expeditions will have to muster up their courage.
