Sweden failed completely in Thursday’s World Cup relay.
Both Emil Nykvist and Jesper Nelin shot away, but Sebastian Samuelsson made a big impression and saved eighth place.

Emil Nykvist got another chance in the first leg, but it wasn’t a fun day for him. In the standing shooting, he lost a lot of time after having to use all three extra shots.
– It was a bad series. It wasn’t fun and definitely shouldn’t be in a relay, so it was a shame. I understand that people are disappointed, I have to apologize to the team, says Nykvist.
When it was then Jesper Nelins lucky to take over, it got even worse: Two penalty rounds in the standing shooting. Nelin switched over to Martin Ponsiluoma as the 20th team, almost two minutes behind Germany at the top.

Ponsiluoma made sure to drive Sweden up to tenth place, and Sebastian Samuelsson on the final stretch was able to finish as eighth in Ruhpolding – the worst relay result for Sweden this season, and a far from perfect rep before the Biathlon World Cup.
Norway won the relay ahead of Germany and Italy.
