This Wednesday, in the middle of the afternoon, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (Flash) did not experience its usual rush. The students deserted the area for reasons mentioned here by Célestin Désiré Niama, spokesperson for the public university inter-union: “ This strike is well followed. It paralyzed the entire Marien Ngouabi University. As I speak to you, all higher education is in complete rest. After negotiations [avec le gouvernement]we will see if we will resume or not “.
The inter-union claims to have had negotiations, among others, with the Prime Minister, head of government. While waiting for the outcome, the students regret the cessation of classes and are impatient. “ As a student, the strike does not suit me because in the end, we are the losers. My hope is that the State can regularize the situation of teachers. This does not make a good image for a country that has resources “.
In addition to demanding reimbursement of deductions estimated at more than 200 million from last November’s salaries, higher education teachers are also demanding the dismissal of the university’s director of financial affairs Marien Ngouabi, accused of mismanagement.
