The City of Stratford’s energy and environment advisory committee has launched the second edition of its Green Recognition Program to continue highlighting the efforts of those who are helping Stratford move towards its target of a 30 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

The program is intended to support the city’s green leaders, promote a variety of sustainable practices and raise awareness of how the community is working towards a net-zero future. Submissions are being accepted from individuals, businesses, industries and organizations in the following categories:

Those submitting an application must meet the following criteria:
- You are a city resident or lead a business, industry or organization operating in Stratford;
- Your initiative(s) can be demonstrated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in one or more of the above categories;
- Your initiative involves an investment of either time or money, or both;
- You are willing to share information related to the initiative; and
- Your initiative is not the result of mandated changes as required by the provincial or federal governments.
Submissions must explain how these criteria are met, the size of the business/organization (number of employees), address and contact person for further communication. Include supporting documents such as photos where possible.
Applications can be submitted through an online form available at stratford.ca/green. The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2024, after which the selection team will arrange site visits and interviews with applicants. Selected residents, businesses and/or organizations will be recognized and presented with a certificate or plaque of recognition during Earth Week, April 22-26.
