Aleksej Pushkov, chairman of the information committee in the Russian upper house, the Federation Council, reacts enthusiastically to the statements of the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Micael Bydén and the Minister of State for People and Defense that Swedes should prepare mentally for Sweden to end up in war.

“Sometimes it seems that some Swedish military and journalists almost dream of war,” he writes on Telegram, as reported by Aftonbladet, among others.

“Apparently they haven’t been able to calm down since the defeat at Poltava…”, he continues.

Pushkov, known for his outspokenness on social media, thinks Sweden is one of the worst countries in Europe when it comes to anti-Russian paranoia, describing the hunt for Russian submarines in Swedish waters as an obsession of some Swedes.

“This is apparently how they try to give Sweden a geopolitical significance that it does not have,” he writes.
