A seven-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog in Kortedala in Gothenburg. The injuries are initially described as “relatively serious”.
– The dog is not under control, says Stefan Gustafsson, press spokesperson at the police.
Tried to run the dog over with a car
The police state that it got loose and that no owner was known in connection with the attack. The police have later found a possible owner, who, however, is not present.
The police write on their website that attempts were made to run over the dog with a car to prevent further attacks.
– It was private individuals who realized that the dog attacked so seriously that someone tried to shield the dog from the child.
Hunted with a snare: “Other methods may be needed”
Several police patrols try to call in the dog and one of the patrols has a “snare” with him.
– It is used to take care of the dog. It gives us an opportunity to approach it without stepping on it. But other methods may be needed given the dog’s behavior, says Stefan Gustafsson.
Several police officers have also been equipped with shields and will try to approach the dog. The police have blocked off nearby streets to prevent traffic from entering the area where the operation is underway.
