Stina Nilsson has had a tough season so far.
But now things are finally starting to turn around for the Swedish.
With three consecutive podium places in the World Cup – and the most unexpected prize.
The fourth season as a biathlete has not been kind Stina Nilsson who had to endure harsh criticism in both his home country Sweden and rival nation Norway. People still can’t understand why she hasn’t progressed further in her development.
Nilsson misses
At the beginning of the season, the 30-year-old again got the chance at the World Cup but failed completely in the first two races. First an 84th place and then she followed that up by coming 69th.

After that, the poke became inevitable and Nilsson was sent back to the IBU Cup where she started her career as a biathlete almost four years ago. There, too, it started badly and Stina had to struggle with both shooting and skating, but now she has really found her form again.
Stina’s revenge
She ended 2023 with a podium place in Norway’s Sjusjön and has now had a great start to the new year. During the competition weekend in the Italian Val Martello, not just one, but two podium places at the IBU Cup came for Stina Nilsson.

First she was third in the short distance and just a few days later also came third in the sprint. Then she was surprised by the most unexpected prize, see the picture below.
Unexpected gift
Because after the competition weekend, Stina got to travel home to Sweden with a box of apples(!). The Swede shows off the strange prize for the Swedish people on Instagram, see the picture below, and the reason is that the competition venue Val Martello is a well-known apple producer.
“Apples that are so good,” writes Nilsson in a post on social media.
“Would have liked to see some chocolate instead of apples,” replies the boyfriend Emil Nykvist.

The Swedes are really happy with Stina Nilsson’s success and give her all the joy after she had to fight to find her form again.
“Hey Stina, you’ll soon be back in the World Cup!”, writes a user on Instagram.
“Congratulations! Good shooting but so fun that skiing is back again after covid colds and messes earlier in the season,” writes another.
“Warm congratulations! Fun with a podium place again! You’re on G properly now!”, writes a third.
