Heat is primarily about two men who are very similar and yet fundamentally different. One is this Police officer Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino). He is one of the best and toughest cops in all of Los Angeles and is downright obsessed with finally catching his archenemy.

This is of course the case
Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro), one of the most intelligent criminals the entire city – if not the country. For years he has repeatedly managed to escape the police. But now he wants to start one last, really big raid and it threatens to be prevented by Vincent Hanna.

The investigator has endless personal problems, but manages to get closer and closer to the outlaw McCauley. The almost three-hour film culminates in one nail-biting thrilling showdown on the streets of Los Angeles. A wild shootout breaks out and the entire city turns upside down.
