The accident-stricken plane, which belonged to Alaska Airlines, was at an altitude of nearly five thousand meters when a window, the door to the emergency exit and part of the wall were suddenly torn away, leaving a gaping hole behind.
Yesterday it was announced that the FAA, the US aviation authority, is introducing a flight stop for the current model from Boeing. According to BBC there are currently 171 aircraft worldwide that are standing still.
No decision in Sweden yet
In addition to United Airlines, Turkish Airlines has also decided to keep some of its planes on the ground for inspection.
At the same time reporting Swedens radio that Icelandair, one of the few airlines in Europe that has Boeing 737 Max 9, is not affected by the flight stop as their plane is not the same version as the one affected by the accident.
The Swedish Transport Agency has not yet provided any information and tells TT that it is awaiting information from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on whether the MAX 9 model should also be stopped in Europe.
