City officials have announced temporary road and trail closures to help facilitate the final phase of the Wayne Gretzky Parkway pedestrian bridge project.

One southbound lane on the parkway between Morton Avenue East and Henry Street will be closed from 2 pm to 7 pm on Jan. 15 for the delivery of the rehabilitated bridge.

Following delivery, all parkway southbound lanes between Morton Avenue East and Henry Street will be closed from 7 pm Jan. 15 to 7 am Jan. 16 for installation.
The Wayne Gretzky Parkway trail between Morton Avenue East and Henry Street will be closed from 2 p.m. Jan. 15 to 7 am Jan. 16.
“We recognize the impact these temporary closures have on the community and express gratitude for your understanding and patience during the closures,” a spokesperson for the city said.
The city remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing infrastructure for the benefit of all residents, the spokesperson said.
The parkway bridge goes over Canadian National Railway tracks and part of a paved trail adjacent to the roadway. It was removed and transported to an indoor location where rehabilitation efforts took place in December 2023.
