Sweden took an easy victory in the WC premiere against Switzerland

It took some time before the first goal came, but towards the end of the first period, Sweden got going. Isabelle Leijonhielm gave Sweden the lead after just over 15 minutes when she tapped in a rebound. Soon after, Mira Hallin made it 2-0 and just a minute later, Leijonhielm made her second when she was allowed to stand completely free in front of the goal and make it 3-0.

In the second period, Sweden extended the lead to 4-0 after a performance by Mira Hallin who won the puck at the blue line, tunneled a Swiss player and then put the puck into the goal.

Sweden mostly had the upper hand but the longer the match went on the more Switzerland got into the match and managed to create several chances but Maja Helge in the Swedish goal was responsible for several qualified saves but at the end of the last period Switzerland got a hole in the Swedish keeper .

– It is well deserved. I feel that Sweden has a bit of a problem, says SVT’s expert Maria Rooth in the broadcast.

Sweden eventually won the match 5-1.
