Announced as soon as he took office, these meetings with the executive office of the Chadian teachers’ union, then with the crisis committee, were essential for the new head of government, Succès Masra, who promised to make the resumption of classes his priority. Since the beginning of November 2023, public teachers have been on strike to demand payment of bonuses, as well as salary arrears accumulated since 2016.

Return to class within ten days

Success Masra calls for a return to class within ten days. In return, he promises teachers to respond to their concerns: “ It is with this strong commitment that, if we can have our children in school in a week, why not. Between now and January 15, give us 100 days where we will work in parallel to mobilize all energies, so that the State works even better, to be more at the teacher’s bedside. »

To illustrate his commitment to school, the transitional Prime Minister promises to devote two hours of his time every weekend to teaching. He invites the members of his government to do the same, according to their training.

Helping children make up for lost weeks »

Myselfhe said, I will dedicate part of my weekend to teaching. And I would like to ask all ministers, each in their area of ​​expertise, to sacrifice the few hours they used to have to go to the gardens. We can take two hours to go help the children make up for lost weeks. »

Many parents are hoping for a quick outcome. The teachers’ crisis committee is to hold a general meeting today to respond to the Prime Minister’s call.
