Only very few films manage to burn themselves into the cultural memory as permanently as was the case with the Back to the Future series. Today you can watch all three parts one after the other on TV. However, we hope there is no sequel.
That’s what Back to the Future and Parts II and III are about
Back to the Future is one of the most famous films ever and the story of the sci-fi comedy has been teased countless times: Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) travels thanks to Doc Brown’s (Christopher Lloyd) time machine.
back to the 1950s. There his own mother falls in love with him and he has to ensure that he is born at all under extremely turbulent and funny circumstances.
Back to the Future II was released in 1989 and really goes one better. This time it works initially in 2015, i.e. the future. There, however, arch-rival Biff has become a real fixture in Marty McFly’s hometown and even married his mother. There is only one thing left: to travel back in time and try once again to return history to its original path.
Back to the Future 3 – Trailer (English with subtitles)
Back to the Future III continues seamlessly from the end of its predecessor. This time it ends up being Marty McFly to the Wild West and he must do nothing less than save Doc Brown from his death. Of course, this doesn’t happen without complications and events come to a head.
If Back to the Future ever returns, please do so
Actually it was never planned to follow up on the first Back to the Future film. But of course the commercial success and the open ending made it perfect. Fans now love the three-part film universe very much, also because it refers to itself so often.
But another sequel, so many years after the first three parts, seems almost unimaginable. At least a good one. Of course, from a commercial perspective, it’s nothing short of a miraclethat nothing like that has happened yet. If anyone were to attempt this venture, it would probably amount to sacrilege for many fans.
However an exciting idea already exists, to relaunch the franchise. Lead actor Michael J. Fox said some time ago that he could easily imagine a woman taking on his role in some kind of reboot. A completely new beginning at least sounds more promising than a lame sequel.
