The Social Democrats believe that Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) is running away from his responsibility for the refugee crisis in 2015.
– He should apologize, says party secretary Tobias Baudin.
“S continues with its falsification of history,” counters the Moderates.
Party secretary Tobias Baudin believes that when the Social Democrats took over power in 2014, they had to deal with the most generous and unregulated migration legislation in the EU.
It was during Fredrik Reinfeldt’s years as Prime Minister 2006–2014 that immigration to Sweden increased faster than ever, according to the Social Democrats.
– Moderate-led governments have contributed to the segregation we have in our country today, says Baudin.
He points, among other things, to labor immigration and that M removed the so-called labor market test in 2008.
“Move your responsibility”
The party’s migration policy spokesperson Anders Ygeman fills in and points out that Ulf Kristersson was Minister of Social Insurance 2010–2014.
– Ulf Kristersson has shirked his own responsibility and the Moderates’ responsibility for the previous migration policy, he says.
– Ulf Kristersson should apologize and be self-critical, says Tobias Baudin.
The two S-profiles cannot set a limit for how much immigration Sweden will have, but it must be “really tight” for a long time to come.
– I do not foresee that we will be able to ease it during the coming mandate periods, says Ygeman.
M: We are honest
At the same time that S is striking out, then Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) stood up in 2015 and said in a speech that “my Europe does not build walls”.
“Humility was clearly not a New Year’s resolution from Ygeman. Instead, S’s falsification of history continues. The moderate-led government is now implementing – step by step – the strict policy that S often talks about but does not implement,” writes Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) in a comment to TT.
She points out that S relaxed the provisions on family reunification and introduced “the most extensive humanitarian protection basis ever”.
“With all this said – we moderates are honest that we and many other parties bear responsibility for the irresponsible immigration policy that was carried out for many years. However, we have changed our policy.”
