A vehicle containing many gas cans crashed into the crowd leaving a concert on New Year’s Eve in Rochester, New York, USA. In the attack, 2 people died and 5 people were injured.

Rochester Police Chief David Smith stated in his statement that an SUV type vehicle crashed into another vehicle leaving the parking lot on New Year’s Eve and that the vehicles plowed into the crowd coming out of the concert at Kodak Center. Smith stated that the fire that broke out after the accident was extinguished by the fire department in about an hour, and that at least a dozen gasoline canisters were found in and around the SUV type vehicle after the fire was extinguished. Smith announced that the bomb squad intervened in the vehicle after the gasoline canisters were found.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force launched a terrorism investigation into the incident. In the news in the US press, it was stated that the vehicle loaded with gasoline cans was driven by the suspect named Michael Avery and that he was rescued from the accident with serious injuries. The news also stated that the suspect left a suicide note and a diary in the hotel room where he stayed, and his family was interrogated.
Authorities stated that the family stated that Michael Avery was bipolar, although he could not be diagnosed.
