Marvel Studios demonstrated it in 2012 with the hero team-up Avengers and the competition from DC wanted to replicate the success five years later with Justice League. However, the star-studded blockbuster failed. Today you can watch the superhero adventure with Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Batman (Ben Affleck) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) on TV. Unfortunately, ProSieben is broadcasting the worst version of the story.
Why there are two versions of Justice League
Justice League follows developments in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in which Superman died. While the villain Steppenwolf threatens the world, Batman wants to put together a team of heroes to save humanity.
The team film was initially created under the creative direction of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder. Two independent Justice League films were planned.

Justice League
According to rumors, there were already creative differences between Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio and producers at the Warner Bros studio during the filming of Part 1. In May 2017, Zack Snyder withdrew from post-production due to a family bereavement. Warner hired Avengers director Joss Whedon to complete the film and invested another $25 million in reshoots (source: Variety).
The film, which was released in cinemas in November 2017, therefore differed in essential parts from Zack Snyder’s version. For example, parts of the story about the villain Steppenwolf were changed. However, nothing visualizes the creative chaos of this version quite like the strange reshoots of Henry Cavill, whose mustache had to be digitally removed.
More about the film:
Justice League disappointed at the box office. A fan movement subsequently developed for the release of Zack Snyder’s “true” version of the film. Zack Snyder’s Justice League became a reality in 2021. The approximately 240-minute-long version features more coherent characterizations (especially of Ray Fisher’s Cyborg), more impressive effects and a successful villain. It’s definitely the better version of Justice League, but it also leaves you with a story of loose ends. There will be no Justice League 2.
Here’s how you can watch Justice League and the Snyder Cut of the film
The theatrical version of the superhero film is coming today, January 3rd from 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben. The repeat runs on Thursday night from 1:15 a.m. This version of the film is also part of Netflix’s catalog.
However, you cannot currently watch the Snyder Cut with a streaming flat rate, but only in the purchase and rental version from providers such as Amazon or Apple.
